To install Carman, you will need to follow the bellow instructions from a Nokia's 770/N800 browser.

Carman needs the Python 2.5 runtime for Maemo. If you already have Python 2.5 on the device, please go to Step 2

Step 1: Install Python 2.5 for Maemo

Before you install Python 2.5 for Maemo, you will need to remove ALL installed applications that depends on python2.4-runtime, otherwise you won't be able to unintall python2.4-runtime that conficts with python2.5-runtime. For further information, see Python 2.5 installation page

To install python 2.5, the following repository needs to be on the device Application catalog. Click on install button bellow to add it to the catalog:

Base repository Web address: http://repository.maemo.org Distribution: bora(for N800) or gregale(for 770) Components: free non-free

Click on the install button bellow to install python 2.5 runtime:

Step 2: Install Carman

Now that you have installed python2.5-runtime package in your device, it is time to take a look in Carman License. If you agree with the license, click on the button bellow to install Carman:

Carman Version: 0.6-2 Size: 1.52 MB License: LGPL

Note: the Carman package repository is no longer located on Garage server. If you have installed the previous version of Carman (0.5.1), please open the Application Manager and remove the old repository http://carman.garage.maemo.org/repo/release from the application catalog before trying to install Carman.
